Eugene Gabany

Eugene Gabany, age 82, of Chase, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of Steve Joeseph & Caroline Jean (Walker) Gabany, he was born on October 20, 1938 in Croyle Township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. Gene worked for over 30 years in maintenance and as a mechanic with DTE Energy, loved to hunt and camp, and would "tinker" with anything that needed fixed. An avid motorcycle rider, Gene was a member of the AmVet Riders Chapter No. 1988 Motorcyle Club. On August 10, 2016, at the great motorcycle rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, he married Ruby Diane Stevenson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jacqueline Gabany; two daughters, Cindy Kirk and Pamela Ronan; four sisters, Helen, Lee, Betty, and Kay; and a brother, Steve. He leaves behind his wife, Diane Gabany; his children, Mike & Cindy Gabany, Linda & David Hunter, Heidi & Jimmy Huminek, and Susie & Ron Britcher; two sisters, Jan & Joe Sargo, and Sandra Oliver; many grandchildren and great-grand children; two step- daughters, Jenna & Brett Mattson, and Michelle & Joe Cerka. A celebration of life gathering is being planned and will be announced at a future date. Instead of flowers, Gene would have appreciated contributions in his memory to either the Lake County Sheriff's Department (1153 Michigan Ave, Baldwin, MI 49304) or to the AmVet Riders Chapter No. 1988 (1959 W. 24th Street, Baldwin, MI 49304).
