Donald Walter Popp, age 83, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024. He was born October 15, 1940, in Traverse City, MI, to the late Walter and Cecilia (Elsenheimer) Popp.
Don worked for A+P Grocery from 1960-1966. He continued his career with General Motors Fisher Body as a quality inspector from 1966-1992. During this time he received numerous awards for supply distribution efficiency. After his retirement from GM, he started his career with Reliv.
Don always enjoyed traveling to the Lake Leelanau area to visit with his many relatives. He so enjoyed playing cards, especially Pepper! Don was an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions fan. Church was also a very important part of his life and he enjoyed reading or listening to the Bible.
Don is survived by his wife, Mary Popp; his sons, Daniel (Suzanne), Jeff (Michele), and Joseph; his son's mother, Bette Popp; his grandchildren, Nathan, Stephanie, Shannon, and Kelli; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Byrnn; his sisters, Carol (Buck) Harvey, and Sharon Larsen; and many special nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by Ken and Douglas Popp.
Services for Donald are on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 12th Street Baptist Church in Kalamazoo. (3911 S 12th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009) Visitation is from 1:30 PM- 2:00 PM, service will start at 2:00 PM until 3:00PM. The family asks all to join them at Don's Luncheon that will take place at the church, following the service.
