Dale Eugene Hosler, age 88, of Chase, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 peacefully at home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. He was born June 1, 1934 in Garrett, Indiana, to Emmett & Bernice McClelland. His mother passed away during childbirth, and Dale was adopted by his aunt and uncle, Geneva & Russel Hosler.
He was a 1952 graduate of Sherwood Ohio High School and a lifetime member of The Eagles. On March 21, 1970, in Defiance, Ohio, he married Karen (Bauer) Nye, and together they shared fifty-two years of marriage. Dale worked for Diche Inc. and Dinner Bell Foods in Defiance, Ohio. He retired from Dinner Bell in 1986 and he and Karan then moved to Chase, Michigan. He was an active member of the Teamster's Union for thirty-four years. He loved all sports, especially the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons, and the Michigan Wolverines. He was an avid bowler for over fifty years, and in his younger days, he loved to travel. He visited 49 of the 50 states, only missing Alaska.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt & Bernice McClelland; his adoptive parents, Russel & Geneva Hosler; a son, Tim; and a daughter, Cindy. He is survived by his wife Karan; a son, Ron & Tracy of Wesley Chapel, Florida; two daughters, Judy Hosler of Shepherdville, Kentucky, and Pam Mitchell of Nokamis, Florida; two step-children, Julie & Mark Hutchison of Luling, Louisiana, and Ken & Sheila Nye of York, South Carolina; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
In keeping with Dale's wishes, there will be no public service or visitation. Memorial contributions can be directed to Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center and/or Spectrum Health Hospice.
