With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Colleen Kay (Cunningham) Reed, age 73, of Grant, Michigan, who left us on January 11, 2022, in Fremont, Michigan. Colleen was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her, born on March 17, 1948, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Ralph and Alice (Grant) Cunningham.
On a snowy day, January 23, 1964, Colleen married her soulmate, Kerry Walter Reed, in Muskegon. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter over their remarkable 57 years of marriage, raising three wonderful children and creating countless cherished memories.
Colleen's passions reflected her nurturing spirit—from her vibrant gardens to her intricate crocheting and sewing, her creativity knew no bounds. She had an extraordinary love for plants, especially orchids, which filled her home with beauty. Her peaceful pond was her escape, where she would spend warm summer days delighting in the company of her fish, each of them lovingly named as if they were family.
Colleen leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever resonate in the hearts of her husband, Kerry; her children, Kerry Lee (Jennifer) Reed, Shawn Del Reed, and Sharlyn Dee Danhof; her sister, Cheryl White; her nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and the many nieces and nephews who adored her. She was predeceased by her father, Ralph Cunningham; her mother, Alice (Grant) Cunningham; and her brothers, Ralph and Roger Cunningham.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Colleen’s remarkable life this spring, with details to be announced soon.
In her honor, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Compassion House in Fremont, Michigan, instead of sending flowers. Your kindness and support during this time mean more than words can express. Colleen's spirit will live on in our hearts, reminding us always to cherish the beauty of life and the connections we share.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids, 616-452-3006.
