Clayton Joseph Jastifer, 83, of Stanton, passed away Friday evening, September 22, 2017, surrounded by family at Metron of Greenville. The son of Francis & Mary (Brandt) Jastifer, was born at home, September 17, 1934. He attended St. Patrick's school in Parnell. Clayton lived in Ada most of his life, where he raised his family. In his early years, he worked for Kent County Road Commission in Ada and then worked as a semi-truck mechanic for Equipment Leasing department at Amway. In his later years he worked for Kamp Pallets until his retirement and part time for several years after retirement. He also enjoyed working with race car driver, Gale Cobb. He retired to Stanton with his bride of 62 years, Dorothy (Bentley), where they enjoyed the past 25 years with friends and family. Clayton traveled to various Steam Shows around the state with his saw mill and Buffalo Pitts Steam engine, which he later sold to a museum in New Hampshire, where it could be preserved and cherished for future generations. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Cameron Jastifer; and a brother, Lawrence Jastifer. Surviving him are his wife Dorothy Susan Jastifer; two sisters, Barbara Spalding, and Teresa Doege; his children; Leila & Marty Huckins, Rebecca Kronewitter, Russell & Starlene Jastifer, Christopher Jastifer, Melinda Jasifer and Richard Sean; grandchildren, Sara & Ryan Casey, Bryan & Jamie Osmolinski, Rory & Renae Osmolinski, Audra Harmon, Tiffany Armstrong, Russell & Michelle Jastifer, Cheyenne Kronewitter, and Austin Jastifer; great-grand children, Mya Casey, Isaac Casey, Lydia Casey, Cody Osmolinski, Cameron Harmon, Lexis Harmon, Garrett Harmon, Macie Jastifer, and Kiley Jastifer; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Patricks Church, 4351 Parnell Avenue NE, Ada Michigan, on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., officiating will be Father Mark Peacock, with a luncheon immediately following. Burial will take privately at Cascade Township Cemetery. In leiu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
