Clawson Vincent "Vince" Bennett Obituary (1963 - 2020)

On the early morning of Monday, March 30, 2020, Vince Bennett passed away in his sleep. Surrounded by family and friends, Vince would have chosen no other way to go. The son of Linden Ross & Joan (Woodward) Bennett, he was born on March 1, 1963 in Preston, Idaho and was a manager at Mateco, an environmental drilling company. Vern/Vinny was a man who loved shooting guns, working in the garage, fishing, hunting, camping, and most of all enjoying time with his loved ones. Married to his amazing wife, Theresa, for 36 years, they enjoyed most of their times outdoors. Whether hosting Indy 500 parties, or trailing through mountains out west in their Can-Am, Theresa and Vince were always inseparable. Vince was the hardest worker, primarily for his family. He never enjoyed to be the center of attention, but always seemed to grab everyone's attention with his kindness and wise-cracks. His stubbornness and humor stayed with him to the very end, as his friends and family would have expected nothing less. He always had a plan and a goal that was best for him and his family. Everyone, including coworkers, family, and friends, recognized him as the most persistent, at tasks both big and small. Although short in stature he had a large heart and strong will, leaving a large hole in the hearts of anyone he has ever touched. He was the greatest devoted husband to Theresa and father to his sons, Brandon Vince Bennett & Salina Nelson, and Skyler Mitch Bennett; and his spoiled dog, Achilles. For those who knew Vince, they knew he was the most stubborn yet kind man one would ever meet. Also surviving are his mother in-law Marilyn; brothers, Laine & Gail, Blake, Shawn & Julie, and Shane & Alyson; siblings-in-law, Kelly, Kim, Robin, Phil, Tonja, and Fred; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends too numerous to be named. He was preceded in death by his parents, Linden & Joan Bennett. At Vince's request there will be a celebration of his life in the near future. "Even though I'm leavin' I aint goin' nowhere." The family would like to recognize sister in-law Tonja Rittenberry for her amazing comfort, support, and strength throughout the last few days that Vince was with us.
