Charles Hanna

Charles Leroy "Charlie" Hanna, age 81, of Gowen, passed away on September 21, 2021 at Spectrum Health United Hospital under the care of Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of Fred Thomas & Charlotte (McConnell) Hanna, he was born on December 4, 1939 in Cedar Springs. On August 9, 1960 in Greenville, he married Janice Elaine LaPar and together, they enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage and raised two children. Charles worked at Electrolux, retiring after thirty-seven years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, going to Margo's and Big Boy for coffee two times a day, hunting, and fishing, however, he most delighted in time with his family. His family was everything to him - from teaching his son how to tinker, and repair almost anything, to time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Charlie Kennedy; and four of his siblings, Carol, Dan, Tom, and Leona. Surviving are his wife, Janice Hanna; their children, Christine Kennedy-King, and Leroy & Angie Hanna; his six grandchildren, Miranda & Kollin Bailey, Dorothy & Albert Cazier, Ashley Hanna, Ashley Laymon & Ty Bell, Cassie Hanna, and Dominic Black; seven great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Logan, Alyssia, Adara, Dexter, Jaiden, and Lilly; six of his siblings, Betty, Bonnie, Lyle, Judy, Jim, and Peg; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
