Sandra Joan "Carol-Carol" Hale, age 88, of Cedar Springs, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Spectrum Health United Hospital, in Greenville. The daughter of Stanley B. & Carrie (Miskewitz) Hale, she was born on January 22, 1932 in Grand Rapids.
Carol graduated from Catholic Central in 1950 and joined the Dominican Order where she was a faithful servant until 1975. During her service, she developed a Dominican Retirement Program titled "From Life to Life", served as a board member of the Family Life Council and worked on a campaign for human development. She also was the director for Project Seek, was a member of two senior citizen task forces, worked at the Area Agency on Aging for several years, and volunteered for Bridge Street Meals and the Voluntary Action Center.
After leaving the Dominican Order, she continued blessing those around her and her greatest love was her time spent with the Grand Rapids Public Schools teaching English as a second language. She loved people, music, and traveling...particularly her travels to The Holy Land, Greece, Egypt, and Spain.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carol "Mitzie" Hale; a brother, Richard Hale; a niece, Mary Miller; and a nephew, Joe Armantrout.
Surviving are her sister, Lois Armantrout of Lake Mills, Wisconsin; her nieces and nephews, Susan & Mike Nesemann, Tom & Elaine Armantrout, Kathy Bradt, and Patricia & Steve Denhart; many great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Sabrina Auguste, Bonnie Nawara, Barb & Tom Ledger, and JoAnn Kasianowicz.
