Bonnie Lou Dykstra, a beacon of inspiration and love, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2024. Born in Jackson Michigan, on August 19, 1942, to Jack and Leona Nicholson, Bonnie's life journey was marked by her courageous spirit and compassionate heart. Every life she touched was enriched by her warmth and kindness. She was a devoted believer and a member of Harvest Baptist Church, where her faith was the guiding force behind her remarkable life.
Bonnie spent many fulfilling years employed at Meijer before her well-earned retirement. Her work ethic was nothing short of inspiring and she brought love, passion, and integrity to every task she undertook. But it was away from work where Bonnie truly shined the brightest. Her melodious voice, often singing southern gospel music, filled the hearts of her loved ones with joy and her Grandville, Michigan home with heavenly melodies. Her love for her family was unparalleled and she made sure they knew it every day. Bonnie was a prayer warrior who fervently prayed for her family and friends daily, demonstrating a level of spiritual devotion that was nothing short of awe-inspiring.
She was a loving mother to her sons, Rob Ruger (Wendy), Shawn Ruger (Melissa), Troy Ruger (Katie), and Chad Ruger (Angie) who survived her. Also surviving her is a legacy of love, faith, and a lifetime of cherished moments. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Leona Nicholson, and her beloved husband, Ken Dykstra. In the book of Proverbs (31:28), it is written, "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." This verse encapsulates Bonnie's life; she was a true blessing to her family and to all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Harvest Baptist Church, 5444 Pleasant Ave, Hudsonville, with a luncheon to follow.
