It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved husband and friend, Andrew Wilburn. He was born on September 16, 1955, in Memphis, Tennessee, and passed away December 19, 2023, in Lansing, Michigan after a short and difficult battle with cancer.
Andrew was raised by his grandmother in Rosemark, Tennesee, about 30 miles from Memphis and attended school in Millington. After graduating high school Andrew commuted from home to a community college in Memphis.
On October 16, 2004, Andrew married the love of his life, Peggy, and they built a beautiful life together. Their story was one of love, companionship, and whole-souled worship of Jehovah God. He cherished Peggy, and their bond was a shining example of true love.
In January 2022 Andrew retired from work in the Public Works Department for the City of Memphis, Tennessee, where he had received recognition for outstanding work and attendance. Then he granted Peggy her wish to return to her home town of Lansing, Michigan. But the main focus of his efforts was worship of the Creator, Jehovah God, and he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in August 1974.
Andrew was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Wright Sr.; his mother, Claudia Wilburn; the grandmother who raised him, Annie Wilburn and her husband, Jack; and his sister, Louise Evans.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy and his siblings, Edna Booth Lumpkins, Ruthie Wilburn, Theresa Booth, Patricia McCaskill, Linda Boddie, and Andrew Wright, Jr. He also has a special aunt, Bobbie Robinson, and step-children and step-grandchildren.
We invite you to share your memories and photos of Andrew on his memorial page. Your stories and pictures will serve as a comforting reminder of how he will be dearly missed.
